Alcatel look set to make an early attempt to crack the premium Android smartphone market in 2014, according to a leak that has appeared on the web. The Alcatel Idol X+ appears to be an impressive beast, although will still face an uphill challenge if it is to take the fight to the likes of HTC and Samsung.
Images posted over at GSM Insider show a thin-looking phone with a large screen, although in-depth information about the device’s specifications is understandably limited at the moment. One particularly interesting detail to emerge, though, is that the Alcatel Idol X+ is set to contain an octa-core processor – part of a trend Android Wafer has predicted for Android smartphones in 2014.
Although France-based Alcatel is a widely known telecoms manufacturer in Europe, its mobile devices are actually developed in partnership with Chinese company TLC. Alcatel has a 45% share in the joint venture.
