The majority of sales from Samsung’s new range of flagship smartphones will come from the larger Samsung Galaxy S8+, according to industry analysts. The 6.2-inch device is expected to account for 53.9% of sales from the series, a report from Yuanta Security has stated.
Yuanta Securities point to the increasing use of smartphone for entertainment purposes, whether that be watching movies or gaming. These kind of activities favour larger screens, which explains the increasing focus on larger displays within the industry.
It is important to note, however, that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ only went on sale in South Korea and the US last week, while it most of the world it remains available for pre-order only. So while industry trends may well prove Yuanta Security correct, its analysts have very limited data to work from at this point.
