There are a number of rumours circulating right now about just what the next version of Android will bring. Tied in with this, the latest speculation to have emerged centres around a new Nexus phone, that may be launched alongside a new addition of Google’s mobile operating system.
A new addition to the Nexus family in 2016 could include a pressure-sensitive display, providing more functionality than a traditional capacitive touch screen. If this is the case, then it is likely that support for the technology would be built into Android 7.0 N, allowing other manufacturers to take advantage of it too.
At this moment, though, the rumour is of a highly speculative nature, and Android Wafer has not seen anything to back it up.
Given Apple introduced pressure-sensitive displays to the iPhone, then it would be surprising if Google has not at least considered the technology. But currently it remains unclear whether much enthusiasm will develop for it within the Android world.
