Cortana - Hi there. I'm Cortana.

Cortana for Android leaks from Microsoft testing programme

An Android version of Cortana, Microsoft’s digital personal assistant, has leaked on to the internet. The unofficial release came via Microsoft’s Insider programme, which has been testing the software.

Obviously there is a certain degree of risk involved in installing an APK from an unknown source. However, many users appear to have been busy testing Cortana for Android, with most reporting that the app functions very well.

There is not long to wait, though, for the official release. Microsoft are due to make Cortana for Android available sometime in July.

When it is fully released, Cortana could prove to be very popular. Although the native Google Now app works well on Android, Cortana’s integration with Windows 10 – which is due to be released at the end of July – is likely to attract users who want the same experience on desktop and mobile.

It is possible that the availability of Cortana for Android may be coordinated with the release of Windows 10.

Microsoft have already revealed that Cortana on Windows 10 will act as a companion app to the mobile version of the digital assistant.
