The release date of Daydream View has been confirmed, with Google’s latest virtual reality product set to go on sale from 10 November. Built to work with Google’s new VR platform Daydream, the headset will initially be available in five countries.
At first, Daydream View will be sold in Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the United States.
The VR headset will cost €69 in Germany, £69 in the UK, $119 AUD in Australia, $99 CAD in Canada and $79 USD in the US.
Daydream is a successor to Google Cardboard and is much more powerful than the search engine giant’s first VR platform.
Currently Daydream View is compatible with the Pixel and Pixel XL, although in the future it will also work with other smartphones that meet the platform’s spec requirements.
Daydream View is a different take on the VR headset to other mainstream offerings.
Rather than being built out of plastic, Daydream View has been constructed using materials more typically associated with clothing. The idea behind this approach is to try and ensure that the headset is as comfortable to wear as possible.
