The successor to the HTC One is looking increasingly likely to make its debut running Sense 6 and Android 4.4.2. The forthcoming Android smartphone has been subject to increased attention in recent weeks, with a launch looking likely early in 2014.
In response to a question about the HTC One on Twitter, HTC insider @LlabTooFeR – whose information has proven to be reliable in the past – said:
“At the moment they are testing [the] device on 4.4.2 and next version of Sense”
The information from @LlabTooFeR corroborates that of fellow Twitter-leaker @evleaks, who stated last month that the HTC One 2 would be the first phone to run Sense 6.
The fact that the forthcoming smartphone – code named the HTC M8 – will run Android 4.2.2 isn’t a particularly big surprise. Android Wafer reported last month that the original HTC One will receive a KitKat update, with the roll-out due to start in January 2014.
A more recent version of Android won’t be accompanied by a Sense update for the HTC One, however. Android KitKat will run alongside Sense 5.5, when the update is released next month.
