In the run-up to Christmas, it was revealed that Huawei and Google are investigating an issue that causes last year’s Nexus 6P to shutdown when around 30% battery capacity is left. The cause of the problem is still unknown, although it does appear to be troubling a significant number of users.
Now claims have emerged on Reddit that the Google Pixel smartphones are also experiencing the problem. The thread-starter posted:
“Twice in [the] last 5 days, has the phone shutdown abruptly while I am in [the] middle of something. In both instances, battery was between 25-35%, and the phone under normal conditions should have lasted for at least [the] next 3-4 hours.”
At this stage, it is unclear exactly how widespread the issue is with the Google Pixel. There does not appear to be as many reports as have surfaced amongst Nexus 6P owners, but it is nonetheless a cause of growing concern.
