Microsoft steps up OneNote development

Microsoft has signalled its increasing commitment to Android, having announced a beta programme for its OneNote app. The move should see development of the note-taking app accelerate, as the company will have access to a decent amount of user feedback.

The fact that Microsoft continues to invest considerable resources into developing products for a rival mobile platform should not come as any particular surprise.

Although Microsoft has historically focussed on its own ecosystems, since Satya Nadella took over as CEO, the company has shifted its priorities.

Microsoft is now seeking to become a leading service provider, rather than relying mainly on software sales. In order to make this leap, it has needed to better embrace platforms other than its owns.
