Netflix VR - Android app

Netflix VR launches for Daydream

Netflix has launched a virtual reality app which is compatible with Google’s Daydream platform. The new app, called Netflix VR, offers all of the streaming service’s content, which is delivered inside a virtual environment.

When viewing movies and TV shows on Netflix VR, footage is displayed on a giant virtual screen.

Content can be chosen with the Daydream controller, via an interface that contains similarities to Android TV.

Netflix VR is currently only compatible with Daydream, so it is not possible to consume content on other virtual reality systems, such as Google Cardboard and Samsung Gear VR.

There is no extra charge to view content in VR, with the new app open to existing Netflix subscribers, or new users who take advantage of the free trial offer.

In order to experience Netflix VR, a Daydream headset is required, alongside a compatible smartphone. Currently the Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, Lenovo Moto Z, Lenovo Moto Z Droid and Lenovo Moto Z Force Droid are all Daydream-ready.

Netflix joins a growing range of services providing video content for Daydream, including HBO and Hulu.

This latest VR offering for Daydream can be experienced by downloading the Netflix VR app from Google Play.
