Qualcomm has announced the latest version of its fast charging system. With Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 comes the promise of cooler charging temperatures, with the new technology said to operate up to 5 degrees centigrade cooler than the previous iteration.
In addition to delivering lower temperatures, based on tests using a 2,750 mAh battery, Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 will be able to offer five hours worth of battery life from a five minute charge.
Of course, battery life figures can vary with usage, but Qualcomm also states that its revised technology will be able to charge the battery of a ‘typical smartphone’ up to 50% of its capacity in 15 minutes, or less.
The new charging standard will be available with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, which is set to launch in 2017.
