Samsung has set up a review to investigate the possibility of carrying out a major reorganisation of the company. The move could potentially see the South Korean conglomerate transition to a holding company structure.
The review has not come as a surprise to the markets, given that there has been speculation for some time that Samsung may pursue this type of restructuring programme.
In a statement to Reuters, Samsung acknowledged the review process, but said that no firm decisions had been taken.
“The review does not indicate the management or the board’s intention one way or another,” a Samsung spokesperson dated.
