Samsung has reportedly decided to ditch the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack on the Samsung Galaxy S8. Instead, the company apparently plans to include a single USB Type-C port, for charging, data transfer and audio.
Reports of Samsung’s plans have come from SamMobile, a website that specialises in coverage of the South Korean company and has a good record when it comes to leaks.
Samsung would certainly not be the first smartphone manufacturer to drop the headphone jack from one of its products. The recently-launched HTC 10 evo (known as the HTC Bolt in the US) also followed the same route.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer LeEco has also released handsets without a headphone jack, as – most famously – has Apple.
