Owners of the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet and Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will soon be receiving an update to the latest version of Android. Sony Japan has confirmed that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be made available near the end of July.
No exact date has been given for release of the update, which is not a surprise given the nature of firmware development.
Most manufacturers tend to release Android updates region-by-region. This approach helps to reduce the load on servers, by managing the number of people that are able to download a firmware release.
Staggering the release of Android updates also acts as a safeguard, as if any bugs emerge, then only a limited number of users will be affected.
Tablets with the model numbers SGP511, SGP512, SGP611 and SGP612 will all be included in Sony’s latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop roll-out.
