The CEO of HMD Global has resigned, with Arto Nummela leaving the Finnish company with immediate effect. The resignation comes at a busy time for HMD, which owns the rights to Nokia phones.

Nokia’s Android smartphone are only on sale in a limited number of European countries, and even in those markets where the handsets can be bought, the full range is not available. However, recently there has been some progress, with further releases and announcements of new release dates.
Recently we have seen Nokia’s new line of Android handsets go on sale in the United States, but the devices have been more difficult to obtain through much of Europe. That is now starting to change, with the Nokia 3 available to buy in the United Kingdom.
At the international unveiling of Nokia’s three new Android smartphones back in February, a very public commitment was made to keeping the handsets up-to-date. HMD Global, the company behind Nokia’s smartphone return, made this pledge not only for the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, but also the entry-level Nokia 3.
Even though Nokia’s new phones have not yet received their international release, there are encouraging signs regarding the company’s commitment to Android updates. Android 7.1.1 Nougat has started to roll out for the Nokia 6, putting it ahead of many other devices.
Recently when Nokia announced its return to the international mobile phone market, there was no mention of Car Zeiss glass being used for the cameras. At the time it appeared that the iconic relationship was over, although now Nokia has hinted at a possible revival.
When it unveiled a new range of phones recently, one area Nokia was not very specific about was the release date, quoting only the second quarter of 2017 as guidance. But now evidence has emerged that the new devices are likely to go on sale from May in some markets.
Early interest in the 2017 edition of the Nokia 3310 is translating into consumer demand, according to UK retailer Carphone Warehouse. The company will be stocking Nokia’s new devices, and consumers are apparently eager to check out one product in particular.
When Nokia announced its comeback to the mobile phone market, the company was not specific as far as release dates were concerned. And while there has been no further word about when the new devices will be made available, it has emerged that the Nokia 6 will be exclusive to the Carphone Warehouse in the UK.
Nokia has officially confirmed its return to the global mobile phone market. There was no surprises when it came to the hardware, with three Android smartphones announced alongside a revised Nokia 3310.
