ZTE has used CES 2017 to confirm the availability of a new handset that is firmly aimed at smartphone photography enthusiasts. With a dual camera set-up on the rear, the ZTE Blade V8 is able to capture additional depth information to produce bokeh effects on images.
One of the two rear cameras is rated at 13 megapixels, while the other has a 2 megapixel sensor.
ZTE has been very clear that it expects its latest offering to appeal to young smartphone buyers, who tend to view imaging performance as a particularly important aspect of a device.
“The Blade series has always been aimed at the young generation, and today we’re proud to showcase its newest member, the Blade V8, to the world,” stated Jacky Zhang, Senior Vice President of ZTE Corporation. “We hope that through this phone and its incredible camera features, today’s youth can see the world in new ways.”
Given the ZTE Blade V8’s target market, it is no surprise that selfies were given a high priority too. The camera on the front of the device is also 13 megapixels, and it sits alongside a front-facing flash.
There will be two iterations of the ZTE Blade V8. The first will offer 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, while the more substantial edition will provide 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage.
The handset also has a metal body and will be shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat. Sitting on top of the operating system will be ZTE’s own Mifavor 4.2 UI.
Other specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor, 5.2-inch display with 2.5D glass and a 2730 mAh battery.
The ZTE Blade V8 will initially be made available in Russia and Japan in February, before reaching Germany, Spain and China in March. There will be four colour options, with Rose Gold, Silver, Dark Grey and Champagne Gold editions to choose from.
