What could turn out to be the last version of Android Nougat has started to be pushed to users. Owners of the Nexus Player set-top box and Pixel C convertible are reporting that Android 7.1.2 is starting to become available, outside the beta programme.
Android 7.1.2 is a relatively significant release, as it contains a feature that was frequently requested by enthusiasts. The update will see support for fingerprint scanner gestures, which made their debut on the Google Pixel smartphones, added to the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P.
The absence of fingerprint scanner gestures on the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P initially caused some displeasure when Android 7.0 Nougat was released, after it emerged the hardware of both devices could support such functionality.
Other changes in Android 7.1.2 include a revised battery usage list, as well as inclusion of the Pixel launcher on the Pixel C.
