European HTC One Android KitKat roll-out to commence in January

HTC One owners in Europe will start to receive an update to Android 4.4 KitKat from late January 2014. The version of HTC’s custom user interface will remain the same, however, with Sense 5.5 included alongside the latest version of Android.

It has only been a matter of weeks since the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean roll-out commenced first in mainland Europe, before reaching the UK.

HTC’s UK Twitter account confirmed the Android KitKat upgrade, although it is likely that a similar timeframe will apply for the rest of Europe, given the pattern the company has followed with previous Android updates.

The relatively short period between the HTC One’s Android 4.3 and Android 4.4 upgrades is likely because less work will be required with the more recent release. As HTC won’t be introducing any significant changes to Sense, integrating the custom user interface with Android will be more straightforward.
