It is widely believed within the mobile industry that HTC is working on two smartphones for Google. And now the specs of the HTC Nexus Marlin, which is the larger of the two devices, appear to have been outed.
Although the official names of the two HTC Nexus smartphones are not known, the code names Marlin and Sailfish are being used.
The news about the HTC Nexus Marlin specs has come from Android Police, and the website has previously reported on the specs of the HTC Nexus Sailfish. In both cases, Android Police say they are very sure of their sources, rating both rumours as having a ‘9 out of 10 confidence level’.
It looks like the HTC Nexus Marlin will feature a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 AMOLED display, 4 GB RAM, 12 megapixel rear camera, 8 MP front-facing shooter, 3450 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.2 support, rear-mounter fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C point, bottom-firing speakers and storage options between 32 and 128 GB.
Android Police have also stated that they now believe the HTC Nexus Sailfish will include an AMOLED screen, albeit a 5-inch 1080p display.
A quad-core Qualcomm chipset is listed for the HTC Nexus Marlin, although the exact model is not specified. Android Wafer believes this is likely to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 818, and that both the HTC Nexus Marlin and HTC Nexus Sailfish will include the same system-on-chip.
