Intel to step away from smartphone and tablet chipsets

ARM-based processors are dominant when it comes to Android devices, particularly in the case of smartphones. Intel has made serious attempts to gain a significant slice of the market, but the company has not enjoyed the kind of progress it once hoped for.

Now it appears that Intel is planning to take a step back from mobile devices, with news that the Broxton and SoFIA platforms have been cancelled. This effectively means that the entire range of Intel’s new generation of mobile chipsets will now not be released.
