Android Jelly Bean has passed a critical milestone and is now powering over half of Android devices in use today. The announcement of the breakthrough has come just days after the release of Android 4.4 KitKat, alongside the Nexus 5.
The news will be welcome by both Google HQ and the developer community. Operating system updates and app releases are more straightforward when most Android users are running the same version of the OS.
Android Developers have made the latest market share data available. It was collected by tracking visits to Google Play, although does not include statistics for Android 2.2 which cannot run the latest Play Store app that is required for data collection.
