Console OS

Kickstarter campaign aiming for desktop version of Android

A Kickstarter project to create a desktop version of Android has been unveiled. Although there are many examples of Android running successfully on PC hardware, Console OS aims to achieve better compatibility thanks to a licensing agreement with Intel.

An edition of Console OS will be available free of charge, although Console OS Pro will sell for a typical fee of $20 (approximately €15 or £12 – excluding sales taxes) per year.

The premium version will include additional features such as InstaSwitch, which will allow users to easily alternate between Android and other operating systems. Console OS Pro will also offer extra media capabilities – it will be shipped with additional codes, contain DVD support, as well as providing both UPnP and DLNA.
