MediaTek’s 2017 flagship chipset, the MediaTek Helio X30, is showing promise, according to the analyst Pan Jiutang. Not only is it delivering some interesting-looking benchmarking numbers, Jiutang claims that it will be built with a 10 nm process.
The MediaTek Helio X30 is apparently capable of delivering a very impressive AnTuTu benchmarking score of 160,000. That compares favourably against the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 – a fact MediaTek are sure to highlight as they look to secure orders from device makers.
AnTuTu results shared by Jiutang assign the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 a score of 130,000.
The benchmarking results do not necessarily mean we should expect to see MediaTek going head-to-head with Qualcomm at the high end of the market next year. It is worth remembering that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is a 2016 chipset – the MediaTek Helio X30 will be up against its successor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830.
