In 2016 there were signs that the era of the headphone jack on smartphones was coming to an end. But these early signals now look misleading, with Moto set to bring back the popular audio port.
Moto were one of several Android smartphone companies to start phasing out the headphone jack. Yet while it was not included on the Moto Z Force, that device’s replacement will reportedly offer a 3.5 mm socket.
Android Authority have managed to obtain renders of the Moto Z2 Force, which clearly depict a headphone jack on the device.
The renders indicate that the Moto Z2 Force does not represent a complete rethink of the company’s design philosophy, as it still has a connection point for Moto Mods.
But while parent company Lenovo may believe it is worth retaining a modular design, omission of a headphone jack appears to be an aspect they are now convinced proved unsuccessful.
