A new mobile operating system is being developed in Russia. The platform is being targeted at enterprise users, as well as those who are concerned about privacy.
Little is known about the new OS at the moment, although The Register is reporting that it could be based on Sailfish OS. This makes the project particularly interesting, as Sailfish is a highly-rated OS, but has lacked the financial firepower to make any real impact on the market.
The organisation behind the Russian OS is known as Open Mobile Platform. It appears to have the backing of the Russian state, with communications minister Nikolay Nikiforov tweeting about the current job openings being offered.
