VLC is in the process of updating its Android app, with a significant update about to be made available on Google Play. VLC for Android version 2.0 sees a number of new features being added, as well as some user interface changes.
The most noteworthy new feature added to VLC is network browsing. As a result of its inclusion, users of the Android app can now easily browse a local network in order to find the files they want to play.
Networking browsing means that it will not be necessary to know the direct link to the location of a file, in order to begin playback.
The other notable change that comes with version 2.0 is that the Android TV edition has been merged with the standard version of the app.
An option has been included within VLC that makes it possible to switch between either the Android TV UI or standard UI.
